Best laser engraver for leather

Leather needs little power. What separates good leather machines is fine detail, a big enough bed for hides, and how well you can handle the smoke.

How we picked

For leather, we weighted fume handling, spot size and bed size over raw power. Specs come from manufacturer data; per-machine starting settings are on the leather settings page.

Leather safety

Use veg-tan. Chrome-tanned leather and PVC faux leather release harmful fumes. Read can you laser engrave leather before your first job, and set up a fume extractor or vent to outside.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a powerful laser for leather?
No. Leather engraves at low power and high speed. Even 5 W is enough for engraving; more power mainly helps cutting thicker leather.
Which leather can I laser?
Vegetable-tanned leather is the best choice. Avoid chrome-tanned leather and never laser PVC or vinyl faux leather.
How do I deal with the smell?
Vent outside or use a fume extractor with an activated carbon stage. An enclosed machine makes ducting much more effective.
