Best budget laser engravers

A budget diode laser engraves the same materials as a premium one. You give up cutting speed, polish and included accessories, not engraving quality.

Where budget machines save, and what it costs you

  • Lower power: fine for engraving, slow for cutting thicker than 3 mm.
  • Fewer included accessories: air assist and a honeycomb bed are often extra.
  • Simpler software: many owners move to LightBurn.
  • Assembly: more parts to put together and square up.

How we picked

We looked at entry-level machines from established diode brands with GRBL firmware and LightBurn support, so you can upgrade software and accessories later. Prices change often, so we don't list them here; each button shows the current price at the retailer.

Frequently asked questions

Is a budget diode laser good enough?
For engraving, yes: a 5 W module engraves the same materials as a 40 W one, just slower. Budget machines are weakest at cutting thick material and usually need accessories like air assist added.
What should I spend on first after a budget laser?
Certified safety glasses rated for 445–455 nm, ventilation, then air assist and a honeycomb bed.
Why don't you list prices?
Prices on lasers change often and differ by store and country. Each Check Price button opens the current price on the retailer's site.
