Accessory
Honeycomb working bed
A metal honeycomb panel that lifts your material so cuts pass through cleanly without scorching the back.
Which machines it fits
Any open-frame machine. Enclosed machines usually have this built in.
Why it matters
When a laser cuts through a sheet lying on a flat surface, the beam reflects back up and smoke has nowhere to go. That leaves burn marks on the underside. A honeycomb bed supports the sheet on thin metal walls so the beam and smoke escape below. It also protects the table under an open-frame machine.
What to look for
- A size that covers your machine's full work area
- A solid metal base tray to catch small parts and protect the table
- Hold-down pins or magnets to keep warped sheets flat
- Easy to clean; resin build-up is a fire risk
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a honeycomb bed for engraving?
Not really. It matters for cutting, where it prevents back-scorching and lets smoke escape.
Does the honeycomb change my focus height?
Yes. Re-focus on the material surface after placing it on the bed.
