Accessory
Laser enclosure
A fire-resistant box around an open-frame laser that contains smoke and blocks stray light.
Which machines it fits
Any open-frame machine. Enclosed machines usually have this built in.
Why it matters
An enclosure turns an open-frame machine into a contained workspace. Smoke is captured at the source and can be ducted out through one port, which makes ventilation far more effective. It also blocks stray light from people walking past and dampens noise.
What to look for
- Fire-resistant panels and a frame that fits your machine plus any riser or rotary
- A viewing window rated to filter your laser's wavelength
- An exhaust port matching your fan or fume extractor duct size
- Access doors big enough to load large boards
Frequently asked questions
Does an enclosure make my laser Class 1?
No. Only a certified enclosed machine is Class 1. A tent or box around an open-frame laser improves safety but you should still follow Class 4 precautions.
Do I still need ventilation with an enclosure?
Yes. The enclosure contains smoke; a fan or fume extractor still has to remove it.
