Creality Falcon 2 settings for MDF

To cut 6 mm MDF, use 100% power at 100 mm/min for 2 passes with air assist on. These are manufacturer and community starting points; run a test grid before a real job.

Starting points, not gospel. Rows marked “starting point” come from manufacturer tables and community results. Run a small power/speed test grid on your own sheet before a real job — batch, humidity and focus all shift the result.

How to use this chart

  1. Focus first. Set focus on the material surface with the brand's focus tool or the fixed-focus spacer. A 0.5 mm error halves cutting ability.
  2. Run a test grid. A 5×5 grid of power (20–100%) against speed (cut: 100–1000 mm/min; engrave: 1000–6000 mm/min) on your actual sheet takes ten minutes and saves a ruined blank.
  3. Add passes before power. If a cut doesn't release, add a pass. Extra power at low speed just chars edges.
  4. Air assist on for cuts. It clears smoke from the kerf and keeps the lens clean; it is usually off or low for engraving to avoid blowing dust into fine detail.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my MDF cut not go through at these settings?
Focus is the usual culprit: set the focus at the material surface (or 1/3 into thick stock), check the lens for smoke film, and confirm the belt tension. Then add one pass before adding power.
Should I change speed or power first?
For engraving, change speed and keep power moderate — it protects the diode and reduces charring. For cutting, run at 100% and tune speed and passes.
Do these settings transfer to another machine?
Only roughly. The Creality Falcon 2 module power (22W / 40W) and spot size drive the numbers. Use our page for your exact machine.
