Laser Engraving Cork sheets/coasters: Diode Settings by Machine
Soft, cheap and quick to engrave at very low power. Cork chars fast, so start low. Coasters, trivets and boards.
How a diode laser handles cork sheets/coasters
Cork is porous and burns easily. The laser darkens it quickly, so engraving uses very low power at high speed. Fine detail is limited by the grain, but bold designs look great. Cork cuts easily but the edges char; air assist helps.
Before you start
- Use dense, smooth cork for best detail
- Weigh down thin sheets; they curl
- Air assist on for cutting to limit charring
Starting points, not gospel. Rows marked “starting point” come from manufacturer tables and community results. Run a small power/speed test grid on your own sheet before a real job — batch, humidity and focus all shift the result.

Tips
- Start at very low power; cork darkens much faster than wood
- Bold designs over fine detail
- Brush off char with a soft brush
Frequently asked questions
What power do I need for cork?
Very little. Start around 20–30% on a 10 W module at high speed and adjust from a test grid. Lower on more powerful modules.
Can I cut cork with a diode laser?
Yes, thin sheets cut easily. Use air assist to reduce charred edges.
