Which machines it fits

Universal — works with every machine we cover.

Why it matters

Open-frame diode lasers are Class 4: the direct or reflected beam can permanently damage eyesight in a fraction of a second. Laser safety glasses are rated by optical density at specific wavelengths. Ordinary safety glasses and sunglasses provide no protection.

What to look for

  • Coverage for 445–455 nm, the wavelength of blue engraving diodes
  • Optical density of OD5 or higher at that wavelength, printed on the frame or lens
  • If your machine has an infrared module, coverage for 1,064 nm as well
  • A wraparound fit, or an over-glasses design if you wear prescription lenses

Frequently asked questions

Are the goggles that came with my laser good enough?
Check the rating printed on them. If there is no wavelength and OD marking, replace them.
Do I need goggles for an enclosed laser?
Not while the lid is closed on a certified Class 1 machine. Never defeat the lid interlock.
